Personal electronic devices are a significant part of daily life. It seems that they cross generational lines, and people from all walks of life find reason to have a phone out, music playing, a tablet on, or a movie running in the back seat. At camp, we've found that these devices distract from the environment that your campers have signed up to participate in. It can also ruin a campers otherwise awesome camp experience when a phone or other electronic device is misplaced.
It is our request that parents strongly encourage campers to leave personal electronic devices at home. There are not any activities in camp where access to a phone or the internet is a part of the daily activities. This policy extends to phones, tablets, personal gaming devices, MP3 players, and smart watches.
We do understand that, for some families, there are situations where a camper must have a phone in their possession for one reason or another. In these cases, we will ask campers to ensure that their devices remain safely within their backpack from the time they arrive with us at camp until they depart. We are also willing and able to hold on to personal electronic devices for campers, ensuring they are returned at the end of the day, should that assistance be needed.
Thank you for helping us create an awesome camp experience that your camper will be talking about for years to come.
